Blut und Ehre is a cool little tape by Winterkriege from Russia, released in 2010 by Heathen Nation. I couldn't find much information on Winterkriege; no entries on Metal Archives or Discogs and I couldn't find any website for Heathen Nation either. Anyways, this is a must for fans of bands like Eisenwinter and Kristallnacht - extremely low fidelity, sloppy perfomance and heavy on epic synthwork. This is one of those rare examples where the extremely crude sound really adds something to the music, creating a somewhat distant and ancient feeling. It's also rare to see a band utilizing synth in a tasteful manner and actually creating atmosphere instead of overusing it to the point of embarrassment. Personally I love this kind of epic sub-basement black metal because of it's unique musical expression, even though it hasn't got many musical qualities in the traditional sense. It's all about atmosphere and passion here.
